`SPORT BOXING` British boxer Nick Blackwell woke from an induced coma a week after collapsing following a fight and he is speaking from his hospital bed, promoters said Monday. Promoter Hennessy Sports published a picture of Blackwell looking into the camera with his left fist seemingly clenched, surrounded by his brother and a friend. Blackwell collapsed soon after the end of the British middleweight title fight on March 26 against Chris Eubank Jr., the AP reports. The bout had been stopped in the 10th round after the ringside doctor advised the referee that Blackwell was unable to see through his left eye. Minutes later, Blackwell fell to the floor in the ring and was taken to hospital.
It was initially reported that the 25-year-old suffered a bleed on the brain, the BBC reports, but medics have now concluded that the bleeding was outside the brain on the skull and was minor enough for there to be no need to operate, Hennessy Sports said "Blackwell woke from the coma on Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital in London after sedatives were gradually reduced. Blackwell acknowledged the voices of loved ones and, by Sunday, was starting to talk," Hennessy Sports said. "It was the outcome everyone had been hoping and praying for, Nick had won his toughest fight yet. ... He's a fighter. He's a warrior."

The 21-year-old Dane finished second following the disqualification of Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull's Australian driver, for a fuel irregularity.
Magnussen, whose second place eclipsed Lewis Hamilton's third place in his debut race here seven years before, said: "I will have no problem keeping my feet on the ground because it does not feel real. It is so strange that this is happening. I have been dreaming about this my whole life."
Despite clinching the 32nd pole position of his career on Saturday, Hamilton was forced to retire from the race at Melbourne's Albert Park after just three laps.
Already suspicious of an issue he could sense on his way to the grid, Hamilton slipped to third by the first corner and was fourth at the end of the opening lap. However, on the next lap it become apparent it was a terminal fault as a cyclinder failed. " So we will recover from this. We have achieved an incredible amount to get here, to be at the front and to be so competitive. We will bounce back and learn from this" said Hamilton.

Malaysia turned on the style when it mattered most, hammering Poland 8-0 to win the World Hockey League Second Round at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium. It was Malaysia’s first International Hockey Federation (FIH) tournament win since winning a five-nation meet in Paris in 2010. Snooker (UK /ˈsnuːkər/, US /ˈsnʊkər/)[2][3] is a cue sport played on a table covered with a green cloth or baize, with pockets at each of the four corners and in the middle of each of the long side cushions. A full-size table measures 11 ft 81⁄2 in × 5 ft 10 in (3569 mm x 1778 mm), commonly referred to as 12 × 6 ft.
The game is played using a cue and 22 snooker balls: one white cue ball, 15 red balls worth one point each, and six balls of different colours: yellow (2 points), green (3), brown (4), blue (5), pink (6) and black (7).[4] The red balls are initially placed in a triangular formation, and the other coloured balls on marked positions on the table known as "spots". Players execute shots by striking the cue ball with the cue, causing the cue ball to hit a red or coloured ball. Points are scored by sinking the red and coloured balls (knocking them into the pockets, called "potting") in the correct sequence. A player receives additional points if the opponent commits a foul. A player (or team) wins a frame (individual game) of snooker by scoring more points than the opponent(s). A player wins a match when a predetermined number of frames have been won.
